2010-2011
Past President
Cheryl Bray

Duties & Responsibilities:

I have had the privilege of being involved with the Garland Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association since graduating from the Garland Citizens Police Academy Class 16.  I’ve had the opportunity to serve in the capacity as Board of Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and now the privilege of President.  Working with the GCPAAA as a member and on the board has allowed me to support the Police Department with the following activities and events:  Motorcycle Rodeo of North Texas, Motor Cops for Kids, Officer Cookouts, Security for the Star Spangled Fourth, Guns and Hoses Boxing Tournament, 2004 and 2008 Swat Calendar Fund Raising, competed in several GCPAAA “Shoot Out” competitions, CPA Drive & Shoot, Cotton Bowl Fund Raising, GCPAAA rummage sale, and I have helped with various training exercises for Area Police Officers, Garland Officers, SWAT Officers and the new GPD recruits.  I also helped in the planning and execution of the Texas Citizen Police Academy Alumni Convention that Garland and Richardsons CPAAA held in 2005.

I am a native TEXAN as is my husband of 33 years Joe (graduate of CPA Class 14).  We have been Garland residents for 2 years and have owned a business in Garland for 18 years. We have two daughters, Angela and Jaclyn.  Angela and Ramin reside in Plano with their children, Dylan (5 years) and Hannah (4 years).  Jaclyn and Bryan reside in Lavon with their sons, Carter (5 years) and Ethan (3 years).

When I am not working with the GCPAAA, my grandchildren and job keeps me busy and I enjoy traveling with Joe when we find time.

I feel very blessed and honored to be a part of this group and to work side by side with many of the citizens that give so much of themselves to support this department and the police officers.  I am looking forward to serving our alumni and the Garland Police Department in future activities.  I can’t wait to see what 2008-2009 has in store for the GCPAAA.
